The adoption requirements for Ghana have recently been modified to make intercountry adoption a greater possibility. In addition, adoption agencies are beginning to work in Ghana to assist prospective parents with the entire adoption process.

Parent Requirements:
Parents must be at least 25 years of age and at least 21 years older than the child they choose to adopt.
Parents must demonstrate that they are able to physically and financially care for the child.
Parents may be married or single
Children Available:
Ghana has a large orphan population. There are infants through children up the age of 16 available for adoption. Ghana has many twins and siblings sets as well. A child older than 16 may be adopted if it is with a sibling set.
Travel: One parent must make a trip to Ghana to complete the adoption. The trip is an estimated 7 days in duration.
