Haiti has a unique history and culture. In addition, to being the sugar capital of the world, Haiti was the first black-led republic of the world and the second country to become an independent nation. The rich culture has produced music, art, and storytelling that are world-renowned. Of Haiti’s 7,500,000 citizens 75% of them are living below the poverty line. The cycle of poverty includes hardship, unemployment, illiteracy, hunger, and disease. One in five children living in Haiti will die of malnutrition or disease before they turn 5 years old. Hardworking and loving parents are often unable to provide for their children and surrender them to orphanages in hopes of a better and safer life.

Although Haiti has a well-established adoption process and there are many adoption agencies working in Haiti there are not a large number of international adoptions taking place. There are an abundance of loving and precious children in Haiti waiting to be adopted into a home that can provide for both their basic needs and emotional needs of permanency and love.
