Kazakhstan is a very large country that stretches from northern to central Eurasia. Many intercountry adoptions take place from Kazakhstan. Due to this, the process is fairly predictable and there are many adoption agencies that work within Kazakhstan.
Parent Requirements:
Married
Single
Must be a minimum of 16 years older than the child being adopted
There is no upper age limit
Children Available:
There are many children, infants on up, available for adoption in Kazakhstan. The children reside in orphanages and institutional care.
Time frame:It may take a year or more to begin and complete an adoption from Kazakhstan.
Travel: Yes! Adoptive parents must take one very long trip to Kazakhstan or two shorter trips. Kazakhstan has a “bonding period” of 15 days that the child and parents must spend together. In addition, it is estimated that the parents will spend 4-6 weeks in Kazakhstan prior to completing the adoption.
