Guatemalan-Korean Children
Hello Precious.org !
One of our users has sent the most adorable picture of her son. He was born in Guatemala and united with his forever family four years ago. This little boy is half Korean.
Our user knows several other families that have adopted children from Guatemala that are also of Korean decent.
She is wondering if any of our Precious.org agencies and members know any more information about Guatemalan-Korean children. She is hoping to connect with other families that have adopted Guatemalan-Korean children.
If you happen to be out there, here is a great opportunity for a connection and dialog about your children’s unique cultural and ethnic heritage.

I wanted to just comment that there are alot of Koreans from Korea working and living in Guatemala who are part of the management teams of Korean based apparel suppliers. These suppliers have a large manufacturing base in Central America, especially Guatemala. Many of them live without families who remain behind in Korea. Most senior managers however bring their families. The children of these families speak fluent Spanish as well as Korean. Many of these children have lived their entire lives in Guatemala due to their families work there. I worked with these factories for a number of years in Central America. There is a very large base of Koreans working/living in Guatemala and most of them speak Spanish fluently.

I am Eva and I am the Mom of the precious guy

So, I am wondering, since the biological Mother of my son was not married, do you think there is a chance that she may not kept him because he is half Korean ? I am not sure how accepted a mixed child is in Guatemala, but could this have been the reason for her to relinquish him ? It really makes no difference to me but I would like to understand more about his situation. I wonder about it sometimes and also about all the other Guatemalan/Korean children I see.
Cheers
