Children Available:
There are many infants and young children available for adoption in South Korea. There are children considered healthy and those with special needs, mild to severe, waiting for their families.

Parent Requirements:
Married couples with healthy marriage of at least three years
The couple has no more than five children in the home
The couple can demonstrate that they can financially support a child
Couples between the ages of 25 and 45 years of age
The age requirement is flexible if:
One spouse is younger than 45
The couple is willing to adopt a child with special needs
The couple has already adopted a child from South Korea

Time frame:
Although the time frame varies considerably, an adoption from South Korea may take a year to several years from beginning to end.

Travel:
Parents may choose to travel, which often has many benefits for both parent and child, or parents may choose to have the child escorted home.

South Korea has launched an initiative to encourage domestic adoptions of orphans within Korea. However, they continue to have a strong international adoption program open. Children reside in orphanages and in foster homes. They receive good medical care and in general are well provided for while they wait to be adopted. South Korea does not require a dossier, instead, they take a completed homestudy as the main documentation for adoption.

Sierra Leone is open to US adoptions once more! The process may take a while and go through several check points, but this is a good things as it is accountability to make sure the child being adopted is actually in need of a home.

Children available: Many children in Sierra Leone have been orphaned by years of civil war. There are boys and girl, primarily infants through school aged.

Parent Requirements:
Single women 25 years of age or older
Married
There is no restriction on family size
There is no upper age restriction
Parents must demonstrate that they can physically and financially care for the child.

Travel:
One parents is required to travel to Sierra Leone to attend the final court hearing. The duration of this trip is 3 days to a week.

The people of Sierra Leone have endured atrocities that have left many homeless and with very little resources. There is a desperate need for families to adopt children from Sierra Leone and to provide care for the children that remain in Sierra Leone. Many children have been abducted and forced to become a child soldier. It is possible that the children have witnessed death and violence, if not been forced to take a part in it as well. Many girls, particularly between the ages of 13-18 have been sold and trafficked to the sex trade. The children lack safety, food, potable water, clothing and medical care. Although some children receive basic education it is certainly not provided for all at this time.

The children of Sierra Leone do need adoptive families, but they need families that have a great understanding of the effects of trauma on a child. They need families that will be redemptive and provide the child with a loving, supportive, and permanent home as they heal from their wounds and grow to be stable and healthy adults.

Adoptions from Nigeria, however, are possible. There are no known adoption agencies working in Nigeria. As a results, adoptions are completed independently and with the assistance of an attorney.

Parent Requirements:
Parents may not have any other children
Parents must be married for a minimum of 10 years
At least one of the two spouses must be 35 years of age or older

Time Frame: The estimated time frame is 6 months to a year to complete an adoption in Nigeria.

Children Available: There are many children residing in orphanages in Nigeria of all ages.
